The
Ratner Media and Technology Center (RMC)is a library that provides
curriculum and curriculum-related resources to Jewish educators in the Greater
Cleveland area and to the staff of the Jewish Education Center of Cleveland
(JECC). Resources, available in English and Hebrew, include print materials,
videos, DVD's, audio CD's, and computer software. Among the materials in the
collection of over 10,000 items are text and activity books, teaching guides,
juvenile literature, methodology, and curriculum. All of the material
circulates for three weeks with the exception of reference sources that are
used in the library and the video/DVD collection that is circulated on a
reservation basis.
The RMC has advanced accreditation from the Association of Jewish Libraries,
indicating that it complies with the highest standards of Judaic library
service. It is staffed by a professional librarian and a media specialist. All
of the staff resources of the JECC are available to library users. The staff
selects, catalogs, and manages the materials in the RMC and provides
information/consultative services to users. These services are provided on-site
and in person, on the telephone and by email, through the JECC website, in JESP
courses, in meetings with staffs of local institutions, and more widely through
participation in professional associations.
