Seymour Kopelowitz, joined the Jewish Education Center in July 1999 as
Executive Director. Since January 2009 he has also been the Interim President of
Siegal College. Earlier in his career in South Africa, he served as a High
School teacher, a Jewish day school principal, and National Director of the
South African Jewish Board of Deputies, the national umbrella body for South
Africa’s 85,000 Jews.
Seymour earned a PhD from Kent State University in 2009, with a major in
educational leadership. In addition, he is a graduate of the University of Cape
Town where he obtained his Bachelor of Arts Degree, Teachers Diploma, and
Masters of Business Administration. He also has a Bachelor of Education from the
University of Natal, and is a graduate of the prestigious Mandel Jerusalem
Fellows program. Dr. Kopelowitz holds multiple endorsements from the Ohio
Department of Education, including a superintendent’s license.
