Resident Educator

Resident Educator Licenses

Issued to educators who have completed teacher preparation programs at an Ohio college or university.
 
Issued to out of state license holders with less than three [3] years of teaching experience. Verification of out of state license and teaching experience are submitted as part of the application process.
 
Effective for two [2] years with each year having specific requirements mandated by Ohio Department of Education [ODE].
 
The Resident Educator Summative Assessment (RESA) is taken in Year 2 of the license. Educators must pass RESA in order to advance to a 5-year professional license.
 
License holders must be mentored by a mentor who has completed ODE training.
