Teacher Licensure

The JECC provides support services for professional licensure of teachers in JECC affiliated day schools and supplementary schools.

  • The JECC continues to ensure compliance with State of Ohio background check requirements.
  • For general studies teachers in day schools, the JECC provides guidance to ensure that teachers have and maintain Ohio teaching licenses.
  • The JECC works with the Local Professional Development Committee (LPDC) to ensure compliance with State of Ohio Department of Education (ODE) rules and regulations. The LPDC, composed of representatives from each day school, reviews and approves license renewal applications, Individual Professional Development Plans (IPDP’s), and associated course requests to be submitted on Pre-Approval forms.
  • Teachers with 5-year ODE professional licenses should refer to the Professional Development Book for renewal requirements. Refer to document to the right.
  • The JECC coordinates the Resident Educator and mentor program, required by ODE for newly licensed teachers
  • For Judaic teachers, the JECC provides staff support for the Cleveland Board of License.  Upon review of educational credentials, the Board of License issues or renews licenses for Hebrew/Judaic teachers in affiliated day schools and supplementary schools.
